Structural Steel Fabrication has entered a new era with the 6 Axis Robotic PythonX Plasma cutting system. One machine to automatically cut, drill, mark- out for fittings and cope in one pass.

The PythonX replaces all the traditional machines required for structural steel work with one centrally programmed and compact unit.

Even if you have the space and money to accommodate a Bandsaw, Beam Drilling Line, Coping machine and all the necessary conveyers and cross conveyers, it is simply not efficient due to the excessive handling and set up required for operation.

Many operators have taken the leap and invested heavily in beam lines but eventually found that although it has sped up the drilling side of the process, the total time per ton still has a lot of room for improvement. The PythonX is a holistic approach that reduces both wasted time and errors enormously by finishing all processes in one pass. The beam enters the 4m square box and comes out the other side a few minutes later: cut, drilled to ASIC approved specification, marked-out for fittings and coped.

The PythonX torch head continuously probes the beam and monitors the end position ensuring that even slightly bent or out of spec beams are still processed accurately according to the downloaded files.

Even moderately complicated jobs can typically take 20 hours per ton can be processed in as little as 5 hours a ton using the PythonX. This enormous saving either translates to flexibility in pricing which in turn helps win jobs when required or increased profit, either way those marking by hand or using multiple processes will eventually find it more and more difficult to compete.
