FAQs

How are your machines delivered?
We have very good relationships with some of Australia’s best and most reliable heavy haulage companies with flat top or Tautliner trucks depending what is most suitable . We can quickly calculate delivery charges and we pass on at cost. We can also arrange cranes as required within the Sydney metropolitan area.
What bandsaw blades do you sell?
At present we sell bandsaw blades for MEP saws only. Visit our MEP blades page for more information and pricing.
Do you sell used machines?
Yes we do! If you have a used machine that you are interested in selling, please visit our used machinery page and fill in the form at the bottom of the page. If you are looking to buy a used machine, we have a select number available. View our used sheet metal machines.Â
Why is a cast iron bow best?
A cast iron bow and band wheels provides the best stability and reduces vibration when compared to traditional fabricated structures found in cheaper machines.
Cast iron bows allow you to run very high band tensions, and when combined with the best available technology throughout the machine, it ensures you have the straightest, fastest cutting steel bandsaw possible.
Straight cuts reduce your requirement for secondary operations and dramatically improves blade life and wasted time changing blades, therefore reducing your cost per cut.Â
Why would I choose an automatic cold saw or high speed saw?
An automatic cold saw or high speed saw is ideal for high volume cutting with repetitious lengths. The suitability will depend on the dimension and type of material. If extremely high volumes are required, the high speed saws are in a league of their own in terms of parts produced per hour.
A cold saw uses a resharpenable high speed circular blade rotating at less than 90RPM. As the cutting action is more like missling than sawing, the finish is more like a machined edge than a sawn edge typical of a bandsaw. The cut is also very straight and produces less burr.
A high speed metal cutting circular saw uses tungsten carbide tip blades operating at up to 200RPM, high power motors, AC Drive balllscrew feed vices and an extremely rigid structure. The result is exceptionall high production outputs and high quality finish, burr-free cuts to very tight length tolerances. The MEP automatic cold saw suitable for cutting steel is the MEP Tiger 372 CNC LR 4.0 and the high speed saw is Velocex.Â
Why do you only sell MEP and Hydmech Bandsaws?
We only sell the very best quality machines from around the world, as such we only stock MEP and Hydmech bandsaws. We often service machines that are 20+ years old that are still going strong.
On a metal guillotine, why is the distance between the front finger guard to the cutting line important?
On heavy capacity machines that often look attractive due to the small price premium from the lighter gauge models, need to allow enough room under the finger guard to manoeuvre full-thickness plate, even when the plate is slightly warped. So a 6.0mm guillotine might need a 10mm or 12mm space. Since you can fit your fingertips into that space, they then need to set the guards far enough back not only so that your fingers can’t reach the blade, but so they can’t reach the hydraulic hold-down cylinders in front of the blades. This can result in the front of the finger guards being more than 200mm from the cutting line. So visually seeing the cutting line is very difficult and if you want to trim cut narrow cut strips, you need to use a scrap piece of material to push the metal.
What size press brake do I need?
When considering which size hydraulic Brake Press you need, the primary considerations are tensile strength of the material, material thickness and length of the piece to be bent. As there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution we welcome your call on (02) 8445 8555 to discuss your needs.
