Workshop Machinery for Metal Fabrication

We supply a complete range of machines used in modern fabrication workshops, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with real industry equipment.

Metal bandsaws are the backbone of the fabrication workshop cutting operation. Our MEP and Hydmech range covers manual bandsaws for light workshop use, semi-automatic models for daily production cutting, and fully automatic CNC bandsaws for high-volume structural steel processing. Available in horizontal single-column and double-column configurations to suit section sizes from small bar stock to large structural beams.

Ermaksan CNC press brakes deliver accurate, repeatable bending performance across a wide range of materials, thicknesses and part geometries. From the compact Microbend for small workshop and light fabrication use through to the heavy-duty Speedbend Pro for high-volume production bending, our range covers fabrication workshops of every size and output level.

Metal guillotines – Ermaksan CNC guillotines and Cidan and Fintek mechanical and hydraulic guillotines provide accurate sheet cutting for structural and sheet metal fabrication. Available in a range of cutting lengths and thicknesses to suit light sheet metal work through to heavy structural plate cutting.

MEP aluminium saws for clean, precision cutting of aluminium extrusions, sections and solid bar — producing burr-free cuts with no heat distortion to the material. Available in manual and automatic configurations to suit occasional aluminium cut-off work through to high-volume production cutting of aluminium profiles and structural sections.

Cidan and Fintek Panbrake folders for sheet metal forming — used to produce brackets, trays, panels, enclosures and structural sections. Manual and hydraulic configurations available to suit different production volumes and sheet material thicknesses.

Lemas and Swebend plate rollers for forming curved sections, cylindrical fabrications and rolled structural shapes in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Available in 3-roll and 4-roll configurations with capacities ranging from light sheet rolling through to heavy structural plate forming.

Lemas and Swebend section rolling machines for bending structural profiles — including flat bar, angle, channel, RHS, SHS and beam sections — into curved and circular forms. Used in architectural metalwork, structural fabrication and general engineering applications requiring curved structural members.

Cold saws for precision cut-off work — producing clean, square, burr-free cuts in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. MEP cold saws range from manual models for occasional precision cutting to fully automatic CNC cold saws for high-volume component production.

Hidrogarne Hydraulic presses  for pressing, straightening and stamping applications across a range of workshop environments. Available in C-frame, workshop press, horizontal and straightening configurations to suit requirements from bearing and bush pressing in maintenance workshops through to production stamping and component fabrication.

Vicon ductwork fabrication machinery for HVAC sheet metal workshops — including Pittsburgh rollformers, TDX rollformers, coil lines, corner insertion machines, seam closers and duct brakes. The Vicon range covers the core production requirements of commercial ductwork fabrication, from coil processing and longitudinal seam forming through to TDF flange insertion and duct assembly.

The Ermaksan Fibremak Momentum Gen-3 fibre laser for high-speed, high-precision flat sheet cutting in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other metals — bringing laser cutting capability to fabrication workshops requiring fast, accurate sheet processing.

Industrial pedestal and mill drills by Strands pedestal drills and mill drills for drilling operations across a range of materials and section types. Manual and automatic feed configurations available, with 3MT and 4MT spindle options to suit workshop drilling requirements from light work through to deep-hole drilling in structural sections.

Workshop Fitout Advice

Fitting out a fabrication workshop or upgrading existing machinery involves balancing capacity, automation level, floor space and budget. Power Machinery’s team has helped hundreds of Australian fabricators make these decisions — providing practical advice based on your production volumes, material types and workflow requirements rather than a one-size approach.

Structural Steel Fabrication Machinery FAQs

A structural steel fabrication workshop typically requires a metal bandsaw for cutting incoming bar, tube and structural sections, a press brake for forming components, a cold saw or aluminium saw for precision cut-off work, a guillotine for sheet cutting, and drilling capability from a pedestal drill or mill drill. Larger operations may also use plate rollers for curved fabrication, fibre laser systems for sheet cutting, and panbrake folders for sheet metal forming. The right combination depends on the nature of the work, production volumes and the range of materials being processed. Contact Us if you are unsure of the machinery types you need for your business.

A semi-automatic bandsaw automatically performs the cutting cycle — lowering the saw head, cutting and raising — but requires the operator to manually clamp and reposition the material between cuts. An automatic bandsaw feeds material, clamps, cuts and recycles automatically with minimal operator involvement, making it significantly more efficient for production cutting of repetitive lengths. Most fabrication workshops use semi-automatic bandsaws for daily production cutting, while high-volume processors typically use fully automatic models. For more information read our comprehensive automatic vs semi-automatic bandsaw blog post.

Press brake selection involves matching the machine's tonnage and bending length to the material thickness, material type and component size you need to produce. Mild steel requires standard tonnage, while stainless steel requires approximately 50% more and aluminium requires approximately 50% less. Bending length should exceed your longest component. Level of automation — manual, NC or CNC — depends on your production volume, complexity of parts and the skill level of your operators. Power Machinery's team provides personalised press brake selection advice based on your specific requirements.
