Which type of MEP Shark Bandsaw is right for you?
Manual Shark Bandsaws
Manual Shark bandsaws are pull-down bandsaws operated by hand for each cut. Best suited to low-to-medium volume workshops, trade shops, and businesses where an operator is on hand for every cut and upfront cost matters most.
Semi-Automatic Shark Bandsaws
Semi-automatic bandsaws combine manual and automatic operation. The saw handles the cutting cycle (feed and pressure) while the operator loads material and sets up each cut. A good middle ground for growing workshops that need more consistency and less operator fatigue than manual, without the cost of full automation.
Automatic Shark Bandsaws
Automatic Bandsaws run the full cutting cycle — feed, clamp, cut, repeat — with minimal operator input, some models via CNC. Built for high-throughput production environments where consistency, unattended running and output speed matter most.
Decoding the Model Numbers
MEP’s naming convention tells you a lot before you even open the spec sheet. The first digits in a Shark model number indicate its width cutting capacity category (e.g. 230, 281, 332), and the final digit indicates how many directions it mitres. 0 means no mitre (90° only), 1 means it mitres one way, and 2 means it mitres both left and right.
MEP Shark Automatic Bandsaws
Fully automatic operation for continuous, high-volume production cutting.

Capacity: 330 x 250mm
Capacity: 330 x 250mm
Automatic bandsaw with double mitre capability for fabricators cutting a wider range of angles in production.
Capacity: 230 x 310mm
Built for flexible angle cutting in continuous production. Operates with precision andsafety in mind.
Capacity: 230 x 230mm
The most powerful and robust bandsaw in its class, particularly suited to solid bar work.
MEP Shark Semi-Automatic Bandsaws
The right balance of speed, consistency and operator control.

Capacity: 280 x 220mm
Two cutting angles with manual and semi-automatic/dynamic operating modes.
Capacity: 380 x 250mm
Operates in manual and semi-automatic dynamic mode and is perfect for cutting from 45° right to 60° left
Capacity: 510 x 320mm
Built for flexible angle cutting in continuous production. Operates with precision and safety in mind.
Capacity: 650 x 450mm
Our largest-capacity Shark model, it’s a horizontal bandsaw for cutting pipes and beams, mitres -60° to +60°.
MEP Shark Manual Bandsaws
Reliable, cost-effective cutting for trade shops and lower-volume workshops.
Capacity: 280 x 200mm
Manual pull-down bandsaw, mitres 0° to +60°. Can be operated with or without an attending operator.
Capacity: 280 x 220mm
Cuts metal from 45° right to 60° left. Operator can use the saw either manually or activate the Cut Control System (CCS) – the saw can cut without an operator.
Capacity: 330 x 250mm
Double mitre capability for angled cuts both directions. Can cut from 60° right to 45° left, and has CCS for use without an operator.
Shark Bandsaw FAQs
Manual bandsaws require an operator to control each cut by hand. Semi-automatic models handle the cutting cycle itself once set up, needing an operator mainly to load material. Automatic models run continuously through full cutting cycles with minimal supervision, built for high-volume production.
It depends on your cutting volume, material sizes, and how much operator time you want dedicated to the saw. As a general guide: low-volume trade and workshop use suits manual models, growing workshops with more consistent cutting needs suit semi-automatic, and high-throughput production suits automatic.
